The certified music-thanatologists of SacredFlight have completed the two-and-one-half year graduate level academic program and clinical internship at the Chalice of Repose Project School of Music-Thanatology in Missoula, Montana. We provide vigils for people nearing the end of life in hospitals, hospices, private homes, and long-term care facilities.

Barbara Cabot, CM-Th, holds a bachelor's degree in History and English from Russell Sage College in Troy, New York. Prior to becoming a music-thanatologist, she worked in banking as an internal operations and IT auditor. Barbara has been a choral singer since grade school, most recently with Aurora Chorus in Portland. She also studied piano and theory as a child. In 1996, Barbara learned about music-thanatology on ABC Nightline, and went to Montana for two-and-a-half years to attend the Chalice of Repose Project's School of Music-Thanatology. Barbara is a co-founder and the Business Manager of SacredFlight, a member of and Treasurer for the professional association, Music-Thanatology Association International, and is actively involved in the Music-Thanatology Training Program at Lane Community College.

Sharilyn Cohn, CM-Th, graduated cum laude in 1979 with Bachelors degrees in Music Performance and Music Education from the University of Memphis. As a professional cellist, she was a member of the Memphis Symphony, Memphis Ballet Orchestra, Memphis Opera Orchestra, Atlanta Chamber Orchestra, Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, and Atlanta Pops Orchestra. She worked as a studio musician on soundtracks and jingles, and special performance engagements with such artists as George Benson, Ray Charles, Sammy Davis Jr., Bob Hope, and Frank Sinatra. As an educator, Sharilyn taught in the private studio and public classroom setting in Atlanta, Georgia, where she also served as an adjudicator and conductor. Following a ten year career in hotel management with Marriott Corporation, Sharilyn was a co-founder and owner of a highly specialized distribution corporation in Atlanta. After watching an ABC Nightline program in 1996 about The Chalice of Repose Project School of Music-Thanatology, she moved to Montana for two-and-a-half years to learn this new vocation. Sharilyn is the Executive Director and a co-founder of SacredFlight. She is a member of Music-Thanatology Association International and has served as vice-president, conference chair, and on several committees. She has presented the work of music-thanatology at conferences on the local, regional, and national level and is the co-developer/director of the Music-Thanatology Training Program at Lane Community College.
