Sacred Flight
Sacred Flight
S
Thank you
It is with both gratitude and sorrow that I announce the closing of SacredFlight. Our last day of service was August 29, 2025.
During the past 25 years, SacredFlight has provided:
- 15,000 vigils for 12,500 patients
- Annual free concerts prior to COVID-19
- Employment for 13 certified music-thanatologists over the years
Our work was possible thanks to the financial generosity of our donors. A legal requirement when dissolving a 501(c)(3) is that remaining assets be distributed to other 501(c)(3) organizations. SacredFlight’s bank balance will be donated to Accorda Music-Thanatology Institute to support training of the next generation(s) of music-thanatologists.

It has been the great joy and the privilege of my life to discover the work of music-thanatology, to be able to study it, and to serve people living near the end of life and their families with harp vigils. Having said that, I’m excited to retire and do some traveling, some volunteering, and more tai chi.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Barbara Cabot, CM-Th
